Increasing Our Well-being
As many things in life, including our well-being journey, this blog entry is going to be a work in progress. I may even expand it with a second part.
Viewing well-being as a journey or a work in progress can be a helpful perspective. It suggests that improving our mental, emotional, and physical health is a gradual process, where even the smallest steps forward matter. This approach implies a continuum between our current state and the one we aspire to reach, rather than a rigid divide between two fixed states.
The issue with having a rigid divide between two fixed states is that it can trap us in a cycle of focusing solely on not being well and striving to be well, which can hinder our progress. However, when we take steps to enhance our well-being and recognize even the smallest improvements, our mindset shifts from simply “not being well” to actively engaging in the journey of increasing our well-being.
Furthermore, viewing increasing our well-being as a journey reminds us that life continues as we work on growing and healing. Each day presents an opportunity for us to embrace and make the most of it. We don't have to wait for everything to align perfectly, every day is an opportunity to live the best life we can, just as we are.
There are many aspects involved in increasing our well-being. We can approach it as a journey of self-discovery and self-care, an ongoing process of learning, growth, and nurturing ourselves along the way.
In a future blog post, we might explore some aspects that contribute to enhancing our well-being.
